Areas of Practice
Developing the areas of practice is critical to our ability to provide for self regulation of a complex industry. Our approach has been to create an identification of the sciences while avoiding a categorization of all the daily tasks. The areas of practice do not extend into the human health fields. The areas of practice have been annotated with their included sub disciplines.
Biology: Botany, Entomology, herpetology, ichthyology, ornithology, biological remediation, toxicology, wildlife science, zoology.
Systems:  Ecology or systems requiring kowledge and experience in more than one area of practice on an interactive basis.
Chemistry: Atmospheric chemistry, environmental human health, chemical remediation, toxic materials, water chemistry.
Geology: Soils, groundwater, hydrogeology, sedimentology.
Physical Science: Acoustics, biometry, hydrology, meteorology.
Agriculture and Silvaculture:  Range management, forestry, grove management, agricultural practices.
Management, Policy, and Law: Enforcement, hazardous waste management, general management, planning, risk assessment, siting and corridor studies, law and land use regulation.
Construction: Architecture, asbestos, structural environmental engineering, land forming, physical remediation, site planning, beach nourishment.
SPECIAL NOTE: Nothing in the above is intended to limit the use of professionally prepared models
or instrumentation but may affect the interpretation of the results of such models or instruments.
